Our Mission
VBM Middle East was established to bring world-class Russian drilling technology directly to the booming energy and infrastructure markets of the Gulf region. Our mission is to provide operators, drilling contractors, and mining companies with high-performance drill bits at competitive prices, backed by local technical expertise and rapid delivery from our Dubai warehouse.
We serve as the exclusive bridge between the Volga Burmash factory in Samara, Russia, and the drilling operations throughout the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, and beyond. By maintaining local inventory and a team of experienced drilling engineers, we eliminate the long lead times and communication barriers that often come with importing specialized equipment.
The Volga Burmash Story
Foundation
The factory was established in Samara (then Kuibyshev), Russia, to supply drill bits for the rapidly expanding Soviet petroleum industry. Initial production focused on steel-tooth roller cone bits for shallow oilfield drilling.
Carbide Integration
The plant launched its own tungsten carbide production facility, becoming one of the few fully vertically integrated drill bit manufacturers in the world. This allowed complete quality control from raw material to finished product.
Export Expansion
Products began reaching international markets. By the late 1980s, Volga Burmash bits were being used in drilling operations across more than 30 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Modernization
Massive investment in CNC machining, automated assembly, and computer-aided design. Launch of the PDC bit product line with both steel-body and matrix-body designs. API and ISO certifications achieved.
Global Reach
Today, Volga Burmash exports to 75+ countries and produces over 50,000 bits annually. The product range exceeds 600 standard designs covering every IADC code and drilling application from oil & gas to mining and construction.

A fully integrated production complex ensuring quality from raw materials to finished product.
Carbide Production
In-house tungsten carbide powder synthesis, pressing, and sintering. Multiple proprietary carbide grades optimized for different rock hardness and abrasiveness levels. Annual capacity exceeds 200 tonnes of finished carbide products.
Steel Forging & Machining
Closed-die forging of bit bodies and cone shells using premium alloy steels. Multi-axis CNC machining centers achieve tolerances of 0.01 mm on critical bearing and seal surfaces.
Heat Treatment
Automated vacuum and atmosphere furnaces for carburizing, quenching, and tempering. Computer-controlled processes ensure consistent hardness profiles across every component.
Assembly & Testing
Semi-automated assembly lines with torque-controlled fastening. Every bearing assembly is tested for axial and radial play. Finished bits undergo dimensional inspection and pressure testing.
