Product Range
Conical Inserts
Tungsten carbide conical inserts for roller cone drill bits and mining tools. Available in chisel, conical, and parabolic geometries with various tip angles and overall lengths. Used as the primary rock-cutting elements on insert-type roller cone bits. Manufactured from proprietary carbide grades that balance hardness and toughness for optimal drilling performance across different formation types.
- Grades: Multiple WC-Co compositions (6-16% Co)
- Shapes: Conical, chisel, dome, wedge
- Hardness: 85.5 - 92.0 HRA
- Application: Roller cone bits, mining tools
Thrust Buttons
Flat-top and dome-shaped carbide buttons used in gauge rows of roller cone bits, percussive drill bits, and mining equipment. Thrust buttons protect the gauge surfaces of drill bits from wear, maintaining hole diameter throughout the bit run. Available in standard and custom sizes with polished or as-sintered surfaces.
- Shapes: Flat top, dome, semi-ballistic
- Diameters: 6 mm to 22 mm
- Hardness: 86.0 - 91.0 HRA
- Application: Gauge protection, wear pads
Carbide Plates
Flat tungsten carbide plates and blanks for cutting tools, wear parts, and industrial applications. Available in rectangular, square, and circular shapes with ground or lapped surfaces. Used in manufacturing cutting inserts for metalworking, wear plates for industrial machinery, and blanks for custom tool fabrication.
- Shapes: Rectangular, square, circular
- Thickness: 1.5 mm to 25 mm
- Surface: As-sintered, ground, or lapped
- Application: Cutting tools, wear parts, blanks
Carbide Rods
Solid tungsten carbide rods and bars in round, square, and rectangular cross-sections. Used as raw material for manufacturing end mills, drills, reamers, and other rotary cutting tools. Available in standard and custom lengths with tight diameter tolerances. Centerless-ground surfaces provide excellent concentricity for precision tool manufacturing.
- Cross-sections: Round, square, rectangular
- Diameters: 2 mm to 32 mm
- Lengths: Up to 330 mm standard
- Application: Cutting tool blanks, wear rods
Jet Nozzles
Tungsten carbide jet nozzles for drill bit hydraulic systems. These nozzles control the flow of drilling fluid through the bit to optimize bottom-hole cleaning and cuttings transport. Available in standard IADC sizes from 7/32" to 32/32" and custom bore sizes. The carbide material resists erosion from high-velocity drilling fluid containing abrasive solids.
- Sizes: 7/32" to 32/32" (standard IADC)
- Material: WC-Co erosion-resistant grade
- Bore tolerance: +/- 0.1 mm
- Application: Roller cone and PDC bit hydraulics
Drawing Dies
Tungsten carbide drawing dies for wire, tube, and bar drawing operations. Precision-finished bore profiles with mirror-polished surfaces minimize friction and extend die life. Available in standard and custom bore geometries for ferrous and non-ferrous material drawing. Multiple carbide grades optimized for different drawn materials and reduction ratios.
- Bore range: 0.5 mm to 50 mm
- Surface finish: Mirror polished (Ra less than 0.05)
- Materials drawn: Steel, copper, aluminum, tungsten
- Application: Wire drawing, tube drawing, rod drawing
Carbide Spheres
Precision tungsten carbide balls and spheres for valve seats, check valves, flow control devices, and bearing applications. Ground and polished to tight sphericity and surface finish tolerances. Available in standard bearing sizes and custom diameters. The extreme hardness and density of tungsten carbide make these spheres ideal for high-pressure and abrasive service environments.
- Diameters: 1 mm to 50 mm
- Sphericity: Grade 10 to Grade 100
- Surface finish: Polished to mirror finish
- Application: Valves, bearings, flow control
Tire Studs
Tungsten carbide tire studs for winter and off-road tire applications. These studs provide enhanced traction on ice, snow, and loose surfaces. The carbide pin is mounted in a steel or aluminum body and installed into pre-drilled holes in the tire tread. Designed for passenger vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment operating in harsh winter conditions.
- Types: Single-flange and multi-flange designs
- Pin material: WC-Co high-wear grade
- Body material: Steel or aluminum
- Application: Winter tires, off-road tires, heavy equipment
In-House Carbide Manufacturing
Volga Burmash operates one of the most advanced integrated carbide production facilities in the industry. The production cycle begins with raw tungsten ore processing and ends with finished, inspected carbide components ready for installation in drill bits or shipment as standalone products.
Key capabilities of the carbide facility include tungsten carbide powder production with controlled particle size distribution, wet-ball milling for precise grade formulation, spray drying for uniform granulation, isostatic and mechanical pressing, vacuum sintering in computer-controlled furnaces, and precision grinding on CNC surface and cylindrical grinders.
The facility produces multiple proprietary carbide grades, each optimized for specific applications. High-cobalt grades (12-16% Co) provide maximum toughness for impact-heavy mining applications, while low-cobalt grades (6-8% Co) deliver extreme hardness for abrasion-resistant wear parts. Medium grades balance both properties for general-purpose drill bit inserts.
Every batch of carbide products undergoes comprehensive quality testing including density measurement, hardness testing (HRA), magnetic coercivity, cobalt content verification, and dimensional inspection. This rigorous quality control ensures consistent performance from batch to batch, giving our customers the confidence to specify Volga Burmash carbide products in their most demanding applications.
